This Isn't Just a Scene - It's a Rebellion
A New Texas Non-Profit is Taking Back the Music Industry
Operation Blackbird is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, based in the Texas Hill Country, empowering songwriters in one of the most vibrant yet under-supported music regions in the country.
In a post-streaming era, many artists find themselves in an industry that no longer sustains them. Operation Blackbird is changing that. We help songwriters reclaim their creative power by teaching them how to build home studios, record independently, and take full ownership of their music.
Our mission is to remove every barrier between inspiration and release. Each year, we provide full turn-key home studios and one-on-one mentorship to selected artists — guiding them through the recording, production, and release of their first single.
In 2026, we’ll host four songwriter showcases. One standout writer from each event will be chosen to receive a home studio and mentorship package. Artists can apply through the Songwriter Showcase page on our website.
In addition, we offer workshops, peer mentorship, and DIY recording education that foster collaboration, artistic freedom, and a thriving community of creators.
